Ingredients

pork tenderloin
  • 1.5 lb pork tenderloin Cut into 1.5-inch cubes.
pineapple
  • 2 cup fresh pineapple chunks
red onion
  • 1 red onion Cut into chunks.
green bell pepper
  • 1 green bell pepper Cut into chunks.
BBQ sauce
  • 0.5 cup BBQ sauce
soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
pineapple juice
  • 2 tbsp pineapple juice
honey
  • 1 tbsp honey
garlic cloves
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika

Equipment

  • 1 grill

Method

Marinate the pork
  1. Whisk BBQ sauce, soy sauce, pineapple juice, honey, minced garlic, and smoked paprika together until smooth. Keep whisking until the honey fully dissolves and the marinade looks evenly combined (no honey streaks).
  2. Toss the pork cubes with the marinade, then coat all sides evenly. Cover and marinate for at least 30 minutes so the pork absorbs the sweet smoky flavor.
Prep the skewers
  1. Soak wooden skewers in water for 30 minutes to help prevent burning. Keep them submerged while the pork marinates.
  2. Thread pork cubes, pineapple chunks, red onion chunks, and bell pepper chunks alternately onto skewers. Pack them snugly so the charred edges show where the pieces meet the grill grate.
Grill and serve
  1. Preheat the grill to medium-high, then place skewers on the grate. Grill for 4–5 minutes per side, brushing with extra BBQ marinade as you cook, until pork is cooked and edges are charred with dark sticky spots.
  2. Let the skewers rest for 3 minutes before serving. Serve with extra BBQ sauce on the side for dipping and additional glaze.

Notes

Pro tip: Reserve some extra BBQ marinade for brushing and serve BBQ sauce on the side so you can keep grilling without over-saturating the skewers. Store leftovers in a covered container in the refrigerator up to 3 days. Freezing is not recommended because pineapple can soften in texture. For a dietary swap, use soy sauce labeled gluten-free if you need gluten-free skewers.
