Ingredients

Red, white & blue kabobs
  • 2 cup fresh strawberries Hulled and halved if large.
  • 2 cup fresh blueberries Leave whole.
  • 2 cup large marshmallows or white grapes Use either marshmallows or white grapes.
  • 12 wooden skewers or bamboo picks Skewer length determines how many repeats you’ll do per kabob.

Method

Prep the fruit
  1. Wash and prep all fruit: hull the strawberries and leave the blueberries whole.
Thread the kabobs
  1. Thread each skewer with a repeating pattern of 1 blueberry, 1 marshmallow, and 1 strawberry, repeating 2–3 times per skewer depending on length, keeping the colors in a tight sequence.
Chill and serve
  1. Line the completed skewers on a serving platter or tray, then refrigerate until ready to serve for up to 2 hours.
  2. Serve chilled as grab-and-go patriotic party appetizer or dessert.

Notes

For the cleanest patriotic look, keep the pattern tight and push pieces together as you thread so the colors line up like little flags. Store assembled kabobs in the refrigerator for up to 2 days; freezing is not recommended because strawberries and marshmallows don’t hold texture well. If you want a lighter option, swap some of the marshmallows for white grapes to reduce sweetness while keeping the red, white, and blue effect.
