Goat Cheese with Honey Fig and Pistachios

Goat cheese with honey fig and pistachios is a Mediterranean-style appetizer built for creamy, spreadable texture. You soften the goat cheese at room temperature, flatten it into a thick round, then top with quartered fresh figs, chopped pistachios, thyme, orange zest, and a honey drizzle for a bright finish.

Ingredients

Goat cheese log
  • 8 oz goat cheese log
Fresh figs
  • 4 fresh figs quartered
Pistachios
  • 0.25 cup shelled pistachios roughly chopped
Honey
  • 3 tbsp honey
Fresh thyme leaves
  • 1 tsp fresh thyme leaves
Orange zest
  • 0.5 tsp orange zest
Flaky sea salt
  • 1 pinch flaky sea salt
Crostini or crackers for serving
  • 1 crostini or crackers for serving

Method

Soften the goat cheese
  1. Let goat cheese sit at room temperature 15 minutes to soften slightly.
  2. Place goat cheese on a serving plate and press gently to flatten into a thick round.
Top and serve
  1. Arrange fresh figs around and over the cheese so they’re visible on top.
  2. Sprinkle pistachios, thyme, and orange zest on top for even coverage.
  3. Drizzle generously with honey to let it pool slightly, then finish with flaky salt.
  4. Serve immediately with crostini or crackers.

Notes

Pro tip: soften the goat cheese until it’s pliable but not melted, so it holds a thick round when you press it. Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator up to 2 days; it won’t be as smooth after chilling. Freezing is not recommended. For a dairy swap, use a high-quality vegan cream-cheese style spread and warm the jar slightly before flattening to mimic the texture.
