Ingredients

Apple cider base
  • 4 cup apple cider
  • 1 none caramel sauce for the punch (and extra for the rim)
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
Fizzy topper
  • 2 cup ginger ale or sparkling water add last, just before serving
Spiked version (choose one)
  • 2 cup caramel vodka optional; use instead of schnapps if desired
  • 1.5 cup butterscotch schnapps optional; use instead of vodka if desired
Garnishes
  • 1 apple thinly sliced
  • 4 cinnamon sticks for floating garnish
  • 1 ice
Caramel rim (extra)
  • 1 none extra caramel sauce + cinnamon sugar for the glass rim

Method

Rim the glasses
  1. Dip the rim of each glass into caramel sauce, then dip into cinnamon sugar to coat evenly. Refrigerate the glasses while you make the punch.
Mix the caramel apple punch base
  1. Whisk caramel sauce, brown sugar, and cinnamon into the apple cider until fully dissolved. Stir until the mixture looks smooth and evenly caramel-colored.
  2. If using the spiked version, whisk in caramel vodka or butterscotch schnapps until combined. The liquid should taste uniformly spiced without streaks.
Chill
  1. Refrigerate the punch mixture for 30 minutes. It should be cold enough to chill the glass rims when you serve.
Finish and serve
  1. Just before serving, stir in ginger ale or sparkling water and mix gently. Add only right before serving so it stays fizzy.
  2. Fill glasses with ice and pour the punch over the ice. Finish with apple slices and cinnamon sticks floating on top.

Notes

Pro tip: dip the rims right before serving if your kitchen is warm; otherwise refrigerating helps the caramel set without sliding. Store leftover punch (without the ginger ale) covered in the fridge up to 2 days; add ginger ale and ice when reheating is not needed, because it must be served cold. Freezing isn’t recommended due to texture changes in cider. Dietary swap: for a lighter version, use reduced-sugar caramel sauce and a smaller amount of brown sugar to keep the caramel-apple flavor while lowering added sugar.
