Ingredients

Holiday butter board toppings
  • 1 cup salted butter Softened to room temperature.
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 0.25 cup dried cranberries Chopped.
  • 0.25 cup pistachios Chopped.
  • 1 tsp orange zest
  • 1 tsp fresh rosemary Finely chopped.
  • 0.5 tsp flaky sea salt
  • 0.25 tsp red pepper flakes
Bread for serving
  • 1 baguette or crusty sourdough Torn or sliced.

Equipment

  • 1 wooden board

Method

Spread the butter
  1. Spread the softened butter across a wooden board using the back of a spoon, making swooshes and swirls for an even coverage.
Add the toppings
  1. Drizzle the honey over the butter in thin lines so it lightly pools in the swooshes.
  2. Scatter the cranberries, pistachios, orange zest, and rosemary evenly over the top so every bite has a mix.
  3. Finish with flaky sea salt and red pepper flakes for contrast in texture and heat.
Serve
  1. Serve immediately with the baguette or crusty sourdough for swiping.

Notes

Pro tip: If your butter is even slightly firm, let it sit at room temperature 10–15 minutes before spreading for smooth swirls. Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator up to 2 days; for best texture, re-soften slightly before serving. Freezing isn’t recommended due to topping texture. For a lighter option, swap half the salted butter for whipped plain Greek yogurt (reduce flaky salt slightly).
